ABC Block Cake

My baby turned 1!  This cake was so fun to design, I've had it dreamed up for months.  The blocks are just styrofoam blocks I bought at the dollar store.  I thought about making them out of cake until I found the blocks for a dollar each.  We really didn't need that much cake anyway!!  Hope you like!

Purse, Bow and Polka Dots Cake

I think this is my FAVORITE cake I've done yet!! I love pink and green together, I love girly things, and I love it when cakes turn out exactly how I plan!  I made this for a sweet little girl turning 2 who loves purses.
The purse is made out of rice krispy treats.  The cake is a 3 layer lemon cake with raspberry filling.  The handle and bow are made out of gum paste and the rest is decorated with fondant with royal icing curly cues and an edible pearl border .  The only thing I wish is that I had put a ribbon around the cake board!  I didn't have the right size ribbon and no time to run to the store.  Poor planning I guess, oh well!  Love it, love it, hope you love it too!!

Cheeseball BATS!

Fun, scary, black and cheesy!  I made these cute little bats for a halloween party.  They are made out of my favorite cheeseball recipe given to me by my brother, rolled into golfball size, coated in poppy seeds and accessorized with blue corn tortilla chips and black olive slices!  I got the design idea from this blog copingwithfrugality.com, but used my own cheese ball recipe.

Cheeseball recipe:

2 - 8 oz packages of cream cheese, softened
8 oz Chedder cheese, shredded
1/4 tsp Garlic salt
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
2 tsp Mayonnaise
1/4 Green Pepper chopped fine
1/4 Red pepper chopped fine
2 green onions, white and green parts included, chopped fine

Cream together cream cheese, garlic salt, garlic powder, and mayonnaise until combined and smooth.  Stir in peppers and onion.  Stir in chedder cheese.  Form into small balls, roll in poppy seeds.  Place olive slices on top for eyes.  Place in refrigerator to firm up.  Insert corn chip wings just before serving.  Enjoy!

Whimsical Polka Dot Cake

This cake was so fun to do.  It is just a small 6" cake, so cute and little!  The cake is a mint chocolate chip cake with dark chocolate buttercream filling, so yummy.  This cake was a reward for my boys for saying their prayers.  About a year ago we started putting beans in a jar every night before bed for how many prayers they said during the day.  When the jar was full we would have a cake and ice cream party to celebrate.  They've been looking forward to it for a whole year and finally the jar is full.
I'm so proud of them!

Ivory Pearl Wedding Cake

4 Tiers!! This is my biggest cake ever!  What an adventure.  The bride said she loves pearls and was very specific about the design of the cake.  It was a crazy amount of work, those pearls pretty much had to be placed ONE AT A TIME!  I could dump a small handful on here and there on the flat surfaces but ultimately most of the pearls needed individual attention.
I brushed on a coating of pearl dust all over the cake which gave the whole thing a subtle shimmer, really pretty, but alas you can't tell from the photographs.  It was much prettier in person but you get the gist right?  Hope you like!

Bowling Cake

This cake was for a wonderful girl turning 10!  So exciting!  She had a bowling party.  I'm still laughing at how funny the bowling ball turned out, but oh well :)  Fun stuff.

Grey and White Wedding Cake with Calla Lilies and Roses

I just love how this cake turned out.  It was so much fun to sit down with the wedding couple and design it!  It is my first real attempt at sugar flowers and I love them.  Making the flowers was probably my favorite part.  Hope you like!

Transformers Cake

Mr. C had his 4th birthday today!  Big kid! He's been asking for a transformer cake, his favorite being bumblebee.  This is what I came up with.  He had fun helping me puzzle piece together the autobot sign and roll the red and black balls.  The cake was red velvet and looked pretty cool when cut next to the yellow fondant.  Cakes are so much fun! Hope you like!

Complete with matching wrapping paper :)

Captain America Cake

This year for his 6th birthday my son wanted a Captain America cake.  How fun!  Captain America has  a big 'A' on his helmet and my son's name starts with 'A' so there you go, it was meant to be!  I made a "patriotic poke cake", where you take a white layer cake, poke each layer with holes and drizzle blue and red jello over the layers.  It turned out pretty cute and really yummy!

The Red White and Blue!

The 'A'

The shield!

Ready to light!

Ready to eat!  YUM!

Barbie Cake

This black and white zebra print with hot pink barbie cake was CRAZY to do!  I've never done a barbie cake or a zebra print (thank goodness for Cake Boss and Google images, lol!).  Lots of learning going on, but I think it turned out pretty cute.  I made it for my friend's daughter's 6th birthday party.  I'm guessing she had a barbie theme going on! Hope you like :)

Bridal Shower Cupcakes

These cupcakes were for a bridal shower.  The Bride's colors are brown and turquoise.  I'm more used to dreaming up cake designs rather than cupcakes, but it was fun.  I LOVE the colors!

Horse Cake

This cake was for a sweet little girl for her 8th birthday.  Her mom provided the horse figurines (wish I could say I sculpted all of them out of modeling chocolate, LOL!).  This was such a fun fun cake to create!  I love it!  The cake is a 3 layer, 9 inch, chocolate cake with mint cream filling.
The chocolate cake recipe is a sour cream chocolate cake that I've made several times.  The recipe calls for 5 egg whites beaten to stiff peaks and then folded into the batter.  The last time I made it the egg whites deflated when I took it out of the oven and the whole cake shrunk like a nightmare soufflé gone wrong!  Yikes!  This time around I decided to scrap that step and just add the egg whites (unbeaten) with the rest of the wet ingredients and it turned out fabulous.  What a relief, and so much easier!
Hope you like :)

Relief Society Birthday Cake

I made this cake for our ward's Relief Society Birthday Celebration. When I was designing this cake in my head I was hoping for something old fashioned, pretty and girly to compliment the theme of the evening "Women of faith from our heritage". I think I accomplished that :). I love it. The bottom tier is a 12" vanilla cake with lemon cream filling, the middle tier is a 9" chocolate cake with a vanilla cream filling and the top tier is a 6" mint chocolate chip cake with chocolate buttercream filling. My house smelled so good baking that mint cake!! Good reviews all around on the taste. Hope you like!

Red White and Blue Cake

Made this cake for the Republican Party fundraiser dinner. It will be auctioned off. I hope it brings a lot of money! :) I absolutely love it, it was so fun to make! It is a lemon cake with raspberry cream filling - mmmm...delish.

Pink and Black Heart Cake

Made this cake for a Valentine's bake sale. I absolutely love how it turned out. I felt like the decorating went perfectly, I wouldn't change a thing. The cake is Red Velvet with a creamy cream cheese filling. The cake recipe turned out really yummy but not very red. Red Velvet cake is chocolate cake colored red. My cake didn't look very red, even with the huge dollop of red food coloring, it just looked like a slightly colored chocolate cake. Oh well, the person buying it won't know until they cut into it and it will still taste amazing! I got the recipe from bakedbree.com. Hope you like it!

Blue Brown Bow Cake

This cake was for my birthday. Yes, I made my own birthday cake, why does everyone ask that? You think I'm going to let my husband whip up a box cake, dump it in a 9 x 13 pan and slap some canned frosting on the top? I don't think so. Making my cake is one of the highlights of my birthday! I've been dreaming up this cake for weeks. I love how it turned out. Hope you like it too!

Pretty Quilted Cake

Made this cake just for fun. Really fun to do, no deadline, no pressure, just fun. Hope you like it :)
